Mariko Okubo

Mariko Okubo is a Japanese ceramic artist based in Kyoto, best known for her expressive figurative sculptures.

She began her artistic journey by studying oil painting at the Department of Fine Arts, Akashi High School in Hyogo, Japan. After studying abroad in the United States, she worked as a graphic designer, producing English-language advertising materials for a major electronics company.

In 2011, her focus shifted when she discovered ceramics while living in Taiwan. Since then, she has devoted herself to the ceramic arts and has had her work recognized in several competitions.

Today, she runs her own studio, Green Time, in Kyoto. Her ceramic works have been exhibited in museums, department stores, and galleries both in Japan and internationally. She continues to expand the boundaries of her artistic practice through international artist residencies, where she explores new techniques, cultural influences, and creative possibilities.
